Black Raku, or Kuro Raku, is one of Japan’s most revered tea wares. First developed in the 16th century under the patronage of tea master Sen no Rikyū, it embodies the quiet ideals of wabi-cha, simplicity, warmth, and imperfection. Formed by hand and fired at low temperature, each piece carries traces of smoke and flame, giving it a soft, tactile surface and deep, lustrous black tone.
